Travel & Transportation

 

Geneva Airport (GVA) formerly and still unofficially, known as Cointrin Airport, is an international airport in the second most populous city in Switzerland. It is located 4 km (2.5 mi) northwest of the city centre.


Driving Directions

  • From the airport (12 min drive)
    Follow the highway towards Grand Saconnex, then take the exit Grand Saconnex and drive straight to Place des Nations. 200 metres before Place des Nations, turn right onto Chemin du Petit-Saconnex; the hotel is at the corner of the street.
  • From Cornavin Train Station (12 min drive)
    Take rue de Lausanne and turn left on avenue de la Paix, pass by Les Nations and go up to route de Ferney. The hotel is on your left.

Public Transportation

  • From Cornavin Train Station take bus n°5 in the direction of Genève Aéroport, until you reach the stop InterContinental (7 stops). The hotel is in front of you. The trip takes 10 minutes. 3CHF for 1bus ticket, available every 60 minutes.
  • Taxi from Cornavin Train Station to the hotel takes 10 minutes. Between 23 to 28CHF.
  • To Cornavin Train Station from the hotel take bus n°5 from the stop in front of the hotel, direction Thônex Vallard, until you reach the train station (stop: Gare Cornavin). The trip takes 10 minutes. 3CHF for 1bus ticket available every 60 min.


Swiss currency is the Swiss Franc, CHF. 

You can exchange money at the airport, train station or Migro Change.

ATMs are available and credit cards are widely accepted. Credit cards with “plus” option allow cash withdrawal.

Some shops take Euros bills and will give you change back in CHF. (but not everywhere)

Foreign nationals must have proof of their identity in order to enter Switzerland.

What to Bring:
  • warm outdoor clothing - warm jacket, gloves, scarf, and boots. Geneva is very walkable even in winter!
  • cozy sweater/jumper, tights, comfortable pants or skirt/dress, indoor shoes
  • winter weight moisturizer and lip balm
  • packing layering pieces is always a good idea, your body temperature may fluctuate during class.

Off-site Parking: 
The nearest public parking garage is Place des Nations, Rue de Varembé, 3 1202 Genève, about 800 metres away. From the hotel, drive towards the lake; at the second intersection, follow the directions to ICCG / CICG; turn right onto Rue de Varembé, and the garage is on your right.
Price: 1 CHF for 3 hours weekdays, 1 CHF for 6 hours on weekends.
